Glenda Charles
Glenda paints works in Oils that appeal on a number of levels. Firstly, one is struck by the delight in surface treatment that is evident. The paintings are patterns of worked and re-worked Oil, drawn line and shapes, colour within other colour and forms that shift, separate and combine again. Secondly there is an exquisite balance between small, visually exciting areas and larger, restful expanses that stand in smooth contrast with each other. There is also an insistence on some higher reflection in these works; a meditation on the real objects that inspired the piece, the changes made within them and the "right-ness" of the intervals between that make up the composition.
